Jahangirnagar Cine Society launched at JU


Jahangirnagar Cine Society (JCS) a cultural and film based organization to debut newly at Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus.
JCS also announced on Friday at a press conference at JU Journalists Association (JUJA) office a new executive committee of 17 members. Nayem Abir of History department, Sajedul Islam of Public Administration department were made President and General Secretary respectively. JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam is chief patron, Associate Prof Kabirul Basar of Zoology department is Chief Advisor and Associate prof Shamim Reza of Bangla department is its Adviser.
Protesting social discrimination, injustice, crime by exhibition of films, is the main goal of the organization, said Nayem Abir. Full-length, short-film and drama will be produced by the society and noted actors be given JCS award nationally every year, he added.
JCS screened a short film ‘Boadh’ at JUJA office. Nayem Abir is the script writer and director of the short film. AdDrama ‘Asechi Hajar Barone’ composed by by Nayem Abir and directed by K H Talha will be staged soon. – JU Correspondent
