JU expels 2 students for ‘taking drugs’


Dhaka-The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have suspended two students of the university on charge of taking drugs on the campus in Savar.The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the university’s Disciplinary Board at the residence of Vice-chancellor Prof Farzana Islam on Thursday night, said JU registrar Abu Bakar Siddik,UNB News Agency Reported.The suspended are Mainuddin Jony, a student of Bangla Department, and Sazzad Hossain Sayem of the Computer Science and Engineering Department.A four-member committee, headed by Prof Rasheda Akter of the Teacher-Student Centre, was formed to enquire into the allegation.It was asked to submit the probe report within next two weeks.Sources said a group of activists of the university unit BCL caught the two students red-handed while they were taking drugs openly inside AFM Kamal Uddin Hall on Thursday night.Later the due was handed over to the university administration.
