Newsmen of Online portal Banglamail sent to jail

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Tuesday sent three journalists of online news portal Banglamail, including the agency’s acting editor rejecting the bail plea of the prosecution.
Magistrate Golam Nabi of the CMM Court passed the order on Tuesday afternoon after hearing on the remand plea, and the bail petitions, filed on behalf of the media-men.The other two accused journalists are executive editor Masudul Haider Chowdhury and Pranta Palash, reporter of the online news portal.
Earlier, on Sunday, Rapid Action Battalion-3 took the journalists to their office for running ‘false’ news against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
Some witnesses say, a team of RAB-3 stormed into the office of the news portal at Kakrail in the capital early Sunday and took away the two, including the acting editor.
Both of them were kept at the RAB office till filing the report on Monday morning. The case was filed against the journalists on Monday.
RAB Operations Officer Md Abdul Karim said, the accused persons have been brought to their office for interrogation over publication of false news against Prime Minister’s son and ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
Advocate Priolal Saha moved the bail petitions of the accused and vehemently opposed the remand plea of the prosecution, while GRO of the court Jalal Uddin appeared in the court on behalf the state. – Special Correspondent
