Tamim hits 7th ODI century in 3rd match against Afghans


Dhaka – Bangladesh cricket team’s dashing opener Tamim Iqbal hit his 7th ODI century during the 3rd match of a three-match series against Afghanistan at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium here on Saturday.Tamim completed his century mission with a single runs off Dawlat Zadran’s bowling when the Tigers’ were batting on 189/2 in 36.1 overs. Tamim faced 109 balls and featured 10 boundaries to reach the century mark.Tamim and Shakib Al Hasan were batting on in the 3rd wicket stand with 106 and 65 runs when scoreboard showing for Bangladesh at 199/2 in 37.2 overs.Earlier, in the 2nd wicket stand Tamim contributed 140 in 24.4 overs pairing with Sabbri Rahman that carried the team total to 163/2 in 30.3 overs from 23/1 in 5.5 overs.The 2nd pair ended up with Sabbir Rahman’s depart as he was caught by
Nawroz Mangal off Rahmat Shah’s bowling. Sabbir scored 65 off 79 balls that witnessed six boundaries and three sixes.Opening batsman Soumya Sarkar disappointed his fans departing early at Bangladesh’s 23/1 in 5.5 overs. He was out for run-a-ball 11 with
a boundary before being caught by Mohammad Shahzad off a Mirwais Ashraf bowling.Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first against the ICC associate nation.In the 1st match of the first-ever bilateral series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan, Tamim scored 80 off 98 balls on the way to Bangladesh’s seven-run victory at the same venue on Sunday last (Sept 25).
