Train crash cuts off Natore rail links


Train communications of the district with Dhaka and southern districts were disrupted for about eight hours and forty minutes as a train crashed into a truck at a level crossing at Tebaria in the district town Tuesday that left some people injured.Station master of Tebaria railway station Ashok Chakrabarty said a Dhaka-bound intercity train hit a stone-laden truck at the level crossing at about 1:00am, leaving scores of people injured.The engine of the train veered off the track and the truck was also badly damaged for the accident.A relief train rushed in and salvaged the engine and removed the damaged truck from the railway track to restore train communications.Train communications resumed on the routes at 9:40 am, the station master added.A four-member probe committee headed by Shawkat Jamil, divisional transport officer of West Zone of Bangladesh Railway, was formed to investigate the incident.UNB, Natore
