UP election held in Phulpur union peacefully


MYMENSINGH – Union Parishad election held in Phulpur upazila today peacefully except few stray incidents.The counting is going on, upazila election office sources said.Upazila Nirbhay Officer (UNO) of Phulpur upazila Rashed Ahamed Chowdhury told BSS that due to missing of four ballot paper books the voting at Banuakandha Madrasa center under Shinghershar union postponed at 3.30 pm. An adequate numbers of law enforcers were deployed during the polls to ensure free and fair election as well as to maintain law and order.

A total of 44 chairman candidates against 10 chairman posts, 118 female candidates for 30 reserved seats and 389 candidates for general member posts were contested in the election.DIG of police Abdullah al Mamun, Deputy Commissioner Mustakim Billah Faruqui, police super Moinul Haque and district election officer Alimuzzaman visited different centers.(BSS)
