Two killed in Thakurgaon road crash

Two people were killed and another was seriously injured in a road accident in Nengrirhat area of Rahimanpur Union in Sadar upazila here on Saturday afternoon.


The deceased were identified as Abul Hossain, 65, son of late Debaru Mohammad of Nengrirhat in Sadar upazila and Arnab Islam, 13, son of Md Delwar Hossain of Bangrol village in Baliadangi upazila of the district.

The injured, Nirab Islam, 16, son of Nure Alam of Kalibari Amtali area in Thakurgaon municipality, was sent to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.

According to police, Nirab and Arnab were travelling towards on a motorcycle around 2.00pm. When they reached Nengrirhat, Abul Hossain was crossing the road and the motorcycle hit him with force.

The motorcycle then lost control and crashed into an electric pole beside the road.

Abul Hossain, a pedestrian, and Arnab Islam, who was riding pillion on the motorcycle, died on the spot, reports UNB.

Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shajahan Ali confirmed.
