Assistant judge killed in Jamalpur road accident

An assistant judge was killed in a road accident at Lahirikanda on Jamalpur-Mymensingh road in Jamalpur Sadar upazila early Monday.

The deceased was AKM Samiul Haque, 27, an assistant judge at the Jamalpur District and Sessions Judge’s Court and son of AKM Fazlul Haque of Satpai Chitpara village in Netrokona Sadar upazila.

Police said when Samiul Haque was returning to his workplace in Jamalpur from his father’s house in Lalmatia, Dhaka on a car.

The private car carrying Samiul Haque crashed into a stationary truck loaded with rods, leaving him and the driver injured.

On information, a rescue team from Jamalpur Sadar Police Station and Jamalpur Fire Service reached the spot and rescued the injured, said Nazmus Shakib, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jamalpur Sadar Police Station.

They were taken to Jamalpur Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared Samiul dead, reports BSS.

The private car driver, Idris Ali, 46, is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Legal proceedings are underway in this regard.
