A 35-year-old woman was killed being hit by a human hauler, locally known as leguna, at Nayanagar More in the capital’s Jatra Bari area on Saturday.



A 35-year-old woman was killed being hit by a human hauler, locally known as leguna, at Nayanagar More in the capital’s Jatra Bari area on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Priti Rani Das, wife of Swapon Chandra Das of  Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria and. She used to live with her family at Kazla in Jatrabari .
Witnesses said the accident occurred around 9:00am when the Jatrabari-bound human hauler from Matuail knocked her down while she along with her daughter Toma Rani Dey was waiting for a vehicle, leaving her critically injured.
Later, she was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where she succumbed to her injuries  around 2:30pm, Md Bachhu Miah, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost, said.
The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
Though locals seized the vehicle, its driver managed to flee.
She took her daughter Toma to a physician and the accident occurred when they were returning home.
