Teen drowns while swimming in lake at Mirpur Nat’l Botanical Garden

A 19-year-old teenage boy drowned while swimming in a lake at Mirpur National Botanical Garden in the city on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Md Hamza, son of Monir Hossain Sarkar and a resident of Rupnagar area in the city.

Hamza along with his uncle Sumon Sarkar went to Mirpur Botanical Garden and he drowned while swimming in a lake there around 8 am, said Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shah Ali Police Station.

On information, divers from local firefighting units rushed to the spot and recovered the body, reports UNB.
