5 killed in bus-truck collision in Madaripur

(BSS) - Five people were killed and 10 others  injured in a collision between a bus and a truck on the Bangabandhu expressway in Surjanagar area under Shibchar upazila of the district on Thursday night. The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The accident occurred when a Patuakhali-bound passenger bus of Hanif Paribahan from Dhaka hit a truck in the area around 7:30pm last night, leaving two passengers of the bus dead on the spot and 13 others injured, Superintendent of Police of Madaripur Highway Police Maruf Hossain said.
On information, Shibchar Highway Police and Fire Service personnel rescued the injured and admitted them to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex, where two of them succumbed to their injuries, he said.
Another person died on the way to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital, Maruf added.
