Narayanganj, 25 Dec  - A man and his son-in-law died after being electrocuted at an under-construction building in Narayanganj‘s Siddhirganj on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Neel Das, 60, and his son-in-law Chhayapodo, 45, both from Nilphamari district.

The incident occurred at around 3:30 pm on Wednesday at the house of Faisal Ahmed in the Barapukurpar area of Kadamtali.

Both victims were van drivers and lived in a rented house in the Kadamtali area of Siddhirganj.

Building owner Faisal Ahmed said iron angles had been brought to the site by two vans for construction work. Neel Das and Chhayapodo were lifting the angles to the third floor when the iron touched an overhead electric wire. The electric shock caused them to fall from the third floor, leaving them seriously injured.

They were rushed to Narayanganj General Hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

Shahinur Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Siddhirganj Police Station, said police were sent to the site after learning of the electrocution. However, by the time they arrived, no one was at the scene as the owner had already taken the victims to the hospital.

“If the families of the deceased file a written complaint, we will investigate and take necessary legal action," he added.
