Dhaka, 22 Feb – A fire broke out at Korail Slum in Dhaka's Banani area early Saturday.

According to Station Officer Talha Bin Jasim of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters media cell, they received information about the fire at around 12:44 am, and the first unit reached the scene by 12:52 am.

Ten firefighting units were deployed to combat the blaze, said Anwarul Islam, Warehouse Inspector of the FSCD media cell.

Deputy Assistant Director of the FSCD media cell, Shahjahan Sikder, said that the fire was brought under control at 1:35 am.

Duty Officer of the FSCD headquarters control room, Khaleda Yasmin, reported that the fire was fully extinguished by 2:45 am.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire originated from a stove in a household kitchen.
