2 killed, 10 hurt in road accident on Padma Bridge

Two passengers of a Dhaka bound bus were killed and 10 others injured in a fatal road accident last night on Padma Bridge here.


The accident occurred at about 11:00 pm last night on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway near pillar number-2 of the Padma Bridge when a Dhaka bound passenger bus of Emad Paribahan from Khulna hit a chemical laden truck from behind, police and eye witnesses said. 

The front portion of the bus was badly damaged in the accident when two passengers of the bus were killed on the spot and 10 others injured.

The deceased were identified as Rafiqul Islam, a businessman and Md Harun. 
Zakir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Padma Bridge North Thana said, the body of Rafiqul Islam was handed over to his relatives and the body of Harun was kept at the police station.

The injured passengers were taken to Srinagar Thana Health Complex and Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for tretment.

Police seized the bus and the truck and filed a case in this connection, reports BSS.
