3 killed, 7 hurt in bus-covered van collision in Ctg

Three people were killed and seven others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a covered van on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Highway in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar district on Monday morning.


The deceased were identified as Habib Ullah, his son Gias Uddin of Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila and Rimjhim Barua of Ramu upazila.

Officer-in-charge of Ramu Highway Police Station Nasir Uddin said the Chattogram-bound bus of Purobi Paribahn and Cox’s Bazar-bound covered van collided with each other when those reached Rashid Nagar area around 8am, leaving the trio dead and seven others injured.

The injured were admitted to Ramu Upazila Health Complex, reports UNB. 

The bus plunged into a roadside ditch and the covered van got stuck with a roadside tree during the collision, said the OC.

The drivers of the vehicles managed to flee.

The vehicles were seized and legal action will be taken accordingly, he added.
