Collision between two bikes kills one in Jhenaidah

A youth was killed and two others were injured in a head-on collision between two motorcycles in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah on Friday evening.


The deceased was identified as Suman Hossain, 22, son of Abdul Mannan of Baliadanga village in Kaliganj. The injured are Toukir Ahmed of Bhutiarghati village in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila and Jihad Hossain of Porahati village.

Police said Suman was heading toward Kotchandpur on his motorcycle when another bike coming from the opposite direction crashed into him at the Taleshwar Bazar area on the Kaliganj–Kotchandpur road around 6:30pm.

Suman died on the spot. Locals rescued the injured and took them to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex.

Dr Abdullah Al Mamun, a physician at the hospital’s emergency unit, said Suman was brought dead, while the two injured men were referred to Jashore General Hospital for advanced treatment, reports UNB. 

Kaliganj Police Station OC Shafiqul Islam confirmed the accident, saying the body has been sent to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue. No complaint had been filed as of Friday night.
