Two motorcycle riders were killed after a speeding bus crashed into them in the Jagahati area of Sadar Upazila on the Jashore–Chaugachha road on Saturday night.

The deceased were identified as Selim Hossain, 35, son of Afil Uddin of Alisa Jadunathpur village in Maheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah, and Ibrahim Hossain, 38, son of Tahajjal Hossain.

Police said the victims were heading towards Jashore town when, around 8:45 pm, a bus coming from the opposite direction rammed into their motorcycle. Both men died on the spot. The bus fled immediately after the collision.

On information, personnel from the Sajiali police outpost and the Fire Service recovered the bodies and sent them to the morgue of Jashore 250-bed General Hospital, reports UNB.

SI Abdur Rouf, in charge of the Sajiali outpost, said efforts are underway to collect CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the fleeing bus and its driver.

The process of handing over the bodies to their families is in progress, he added.
