New Delhi, India's capital, has ordered the closure of all primary schools until further notice due to hazardous air pollution levels that have blanketed the city. The decision was announced late Thursday by Chief Minister Atishi, who stated on the social media platform X that "all primary schools in Delhi will transition to online classes due to rising pollution levels, until further directions are issued."
The move comes as the air quality in the sprawling megacity deteriorates, with pollutants reaching dangerous levels, prompting concerns about the health and safety of young children. Authorities have also advised residents to limit outdoor activities, while schools scramble to implement virtual learning for the affected students.
