Group exhibition Ten Shades opens at Alliance Francaise, Dhaka.

Alliance Française Dhaka on Friday inaugurated “Ten Shades,” a compelling group art exhibition that brings together the unique creative voices of ten contemporary Bangladeshi artists. The exhibition opened at 6:00 PM and will remain on view until 21 July 2025 at Galerie Zoom, Alliance Française de Dhaka.

“Ten Shades” is a powerful expression of artistic individuality and collective resonance. The title serves as a metaphor for the diversity of thought, background, and aesthetic approach each artist brings—shaped by their unique social, cultural, and psychological experiences. Together, their works form a dynamic, layered conversation that traverses abstraction, calligraphy, folk influences, and reflections on time, memory, and nature.

Participating Artists:

Shekh Humayra Asfaqe, Nowrin Akter, Mrittika Biswas, Orpita Bhowmik, Eliza Chowdhury, Sajjadur Rahman Shihan, Md. Daud Haider Shaon, Prottyasha Mahmud, Anik Banik, and Pobitro Das.

Among the works on view, Sajjadur Rahman Shihan, whose abstract compositions disrupt and reconstruct color and form, provoking a transformative shift in perception. Shekh Humayra Asfaq, who explores the visual beauty of language through contemporary Arabic calligraphy, merging tradition with modern design. Prottyasha Mahmud, who draws inspiration from folk art traditions, reimagining them with vibrant hues and fluid motifs to celebrate heritage through a contemporary lens.

From meditative explorations of identity to bold reinterpretations of cultural motifs, each piece invites viewers into a deeply personal yet universally resonant space. “Ten Shades” offers more than just visual appreciation — it is a collective journey through emotion, memory, and imagination.
