Mohammed Sohag, 39, a scraf trader of the Mitford area of Old Dhaka was brutally hacked and beaten to death with stone in broad daylight at the hospital gate on Thursday by two Juba Dal leaders for allegedly not paying extortion.
Shohag’s family later filed a case, naming several accused, including the two Jubo Dal leaders Rajab Ali Pintu and Sabah Karim Lucky.
A video of the killing went viral in no time and the people of the area were shocked. On Friday processions were brought out in Dhaka University and the Paltan area of the metropolis protesting the killing and demanding punishment of the killers.
The Juba Dal, BNP’s yough associate on Friday announced lifetime expulsion of Rajab Ali Pintu and Sabah Karim Lucky and made a strong call to the law enforcement authorities to take legal action.
A press release issued for this said former Climate Affairs Joint Secretary of the Jubo Dal Central Executive Committee Rajab Ali Pintu and Joint Convener of Dhaka Metropolitan South Jubo Dal, accused in the case filed by the family in the brutal murder of a businessman Mohammad Sohag in broad daylight on July 9, 2025, at the main gate of Mitford Hospital in the capital, have been expelled from the party for life along with their primary membership.
President of the Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal Central Executive Committee Abdul Monayem Munna and General Secretary Mohammad Nurul Islam Nayan have already implemented this decision.
The party will not take responsibility for any misdeeds of the expelled leaders. Leaders and activists at all levels of the Jubo Dal have been instructed not to have organizational relations with them.
The law enforcement agencies have been strongly urged to take necessary legal action without showing any laxity in the matter, the press release added.
