Dhaka-Bound Biman Flight Stranded In Italy For 7 Hours
A Dhaka-bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying around 260 passengers has been stranded at an airport in Italy for more than seven hours due to a technical problem.
Flight BG306 departed Toronto at around 5:00pm local time on Thursday and landed in Italy at approximately 7:20am on Friday for a refuelling stop.
Passengers said the aircraft developed a technical problem during the stop, preventing it from continuing its journey to Dhaka.
After landing, passengers were informed that the aircraft required urgent repairs. As of 1:30pm local time, the plane remained grounded, with no confirmed departure time.
Several passengers said they were experiencing distress because they were not allowed to leave the aircraft or enter the airport terminal.
They said children and elderly passengers began feeling unwell amid extreme heat and poor ventilation inside the aircraft.
Passenger Shariful Islam urged Biman authorities and the government to intervene immediately and ensure the safety and necessary assistance of those stranded.
Attempts to contact Biman Bangladesh Airlines officials for comment were unsuccessful. Its General Manager (Public Relations) Boshra Islam did not respond to calls regarding the incident.
