BD gets $2.4bn remittance in Sept against 1.3bn in Sept 2023

Dhaka, Oct 02 - Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Nurun Nahar has informed that despite many obstacles, the country has received 2.4 billion dollars remittance in September 2024 which was only 1.3 billon dollars in September 2023 .

The Deputy Governor made the disclosure while inaugurating a roundtable conference on “Remittance Inflow in Bangladesh: Pre-migration Financial and Non-Financial Initiatives” in the capital on Wednesday.

She emphasised on increasing inflow of remittance through imparting proper education and training as well as financial literacy to the Bangladeshi expatriates working abroad.

Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) organized the roundtable at its auditorium at Mirpur. Chairman of Islami Bank PLC Obaid Ullah Al Masud, attended the programme as guest of honour.

Professor of BIBM Dr Proshanto Kumar Banarjee presented the key-note paper at the programme.

Presided over by BIBM Director General Dr Md Akhteruzzaman, the roundtable was addressed among others by Associate Professor of BIBM Md Shihab Uddin Khan, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank Mohammad Jamal Uddin and Managing Director of Probashi Kallayan bank Mojibur Rahman.
