Huge drugs seized at Dinajpur borders

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a large quantity of narcotics in four separate raids along the border areas of Dinajpur Sadar and Birampur upazilas.

 
Lt Col Mohammad Arif-Uz Zaman, commanding officer of Dinajpur Phulbari BGB-29 Battalion, confirmed the information in a press release this morning.
 
According to the BGB press release, the raids were conducted from late Sunday night to early Monday in the border areas under the jurisdiction of the Borogram, Dainur and Rasulpur Border Outposts (BOPs) in Dinajpur Sadar and the Birampur Special Camp in Birampur upazila.
 
During the operations, BGB personnel recovered 953 bottles of Indian cough syrup, 353 bottles of sexual stimulant syrup and 2,500 Indian tablets of various types of narcotics from inside Bangladesh.
     
The smugglers abandoned the contraband at the scene and fled during the raids. BGB personnel are continuing efforts to identify and apprehend those involved in the drug trafficking, the release said.
 
BGB sources said the total estimated value of the seized narcotics and other smuggled goods is Taka 6,34,750.

The Phulbari Battalion said its operations against drug trafficking and smuggling along the border would continue, reports BSS.
