Border Tensions Eased, Fencing Halted: Home Adviser

Home Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated today that the situation along the Bangladesh-India border is currently calm, with the construction of barbed wire fencing now halted.


“There is no tension at the border now,” he said in response to a question after a meeting with divisional officers in Mymensingh.

Chowdhury also confirmed that a Director General (DG) level meeting between the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) and the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) will take place next month to address ongoing issues.

“The topics will be discussed at the BGB-BSF DG-level meeting,” he added.

The Home Adviser further highlighted that some agreements between the two countries had been unbalanced. “We have already sent a letter regarding this issue,” he said, adding that discussions will take place on how to resolve problems stemming from these unequal agreements.
