Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 30,000 US dollars from the Madra border area of the district while being smuggled to India.

The US dollars were seized from Tetultala area of Madra border in Kalaroa upazila on Wednesday night.

A BGB team from Madra BOP conducted a raid in the area based on secret information that a group of smugglers were trying to smuggle a large consignment of dollars to India through Madra border.

At that time, a suspicious person was chased by BGB while he was going towards the Indian border. He ran away leaving a polythene bag he was carrying in his hand.

Later, the patrol team recovered the dollars after searching the bag.

Satkhira BGB-33 Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Ashraful Haque confirmed the matter and said that the recovered currency is in the process of being deposited in the Satkhira Treasury Office after receiving the court order and completing the legal procedures on Thursday, reports BSS.
