Atikur Rahman elected president of BCCMEA for 2025-27

Dhaka,  8 Mar -The panel leader of Charcoal Shilpo Rakkha-O-Sanskar Parishad Atikur Rahman has been elected as the president of Bangladesh Charcoal Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BCCMEA) for the term of 2025–27.

The election board’s chairman Md Gias Uddin Chowdhury (Khokon) announced the results at a city hotel on Saturday. Other EC members Advocate Rafiqul Islam and Mohsin Kabir were also present in the event.

As vice presidents, Mohammad Nazmul Islam, Mehedi Hasan Julias, and Md Habib-e-Hasan (unopposed) were elected.

Besides, Shahiar Ibne Ibrahim as Finance Secretary, while Mohammad Shamsul Alam Talukder, AM Alamgir Kabir, Miraz Mohammad Tarequl Hasan, Md Mofazzel Hossain Khokon, Hossain Ahmed Chowdhury, and Md Shahadat Hossain were elected as executive members for the new committee.

Speaking to media, the newly elected president Atikur Rahman said that he would like to work with all members of the trade body to boost the business of the charcoal industry.

However, the jute stick charcoal powder has miscellaneous applications, including the use in inks, cosmetics, and the pharmaceutical industry.

Atikur Rahman mentioned that the charcoal industry has an investment of Tk1,000 crore and directly employs around 25,000 people.
