CBFC Elects New Executive Committee for 2025–2027

The China-Bangladesh Friendship Center (CBFC) has elected a new leadership team for the 2025–2027 term, following its Sixth Annual General Meeting held online via Zoom on Friday night.

In accordance with CBFC’s election procedures, members appointed Dr. Fakhrul Islam Babu as President and Ms. Chen Qiuhua (Roseanne) as General Secretary. Two long-serving contributors, Mr. Mohammad Kamrul Hasaan and Mr. Zhong Yanmeng (Jason Zhong), were honoured with the title of Honorary President for their enduring service to the organisation.

The new executive committee includes Ms. Nipa Das and Mr. Ashiqur Rahman Sarker as Joint Secretaries. Vice-presidential responsibilities have been entrusted to Mr. Fung Chi Nok (Lenny), Engr. Jahan Md Shah, Dr. MNH Munim, and Mr. Mohammed Iqbal Bahar. Md. Shariful Islam will serve as Organizing Secretary, while Mr. Shaik Niaz Hossain takes charge of finance as Finance Secretary.

Other committee members have been assigned key portfolios: Mr. Shamsul Arefeen Shohel will handle trade, commerce, and industry matters; Mr. Golam Rabbani Raza will oversee international affairs; and Ms. Syeda Saika Rosy will lead women’s affairs. M.G. Shams Khan will direct education and training initiatives, Mr. Saddam Hossain Rony will manage social welfare activities, and Mr. Sheikh Ali Ashraf Faruk will coordinate cultural programs.

In addition, Ms. Tahrima Islam will lead press and publicity, Mr. Sudipto Roy Akash will drive ICT development, and Mr. Mohammad Shafiqul Islam will focus on youth engagement. Supporting the President directly, Ms. Sajeda Sabir will serve as Program Coordinator and Special Assistant.

With this newly elected team, CBFC aims to expand cultural exchanges, strengthen educational ties, engage youth, and deepen Bangladesh–China cooperation over the next two years.
