Two University Students Drown in Munshiganj Pond

Two students of BRAC University died after drowning in a pond while visiting Munshiganj with friends, in an incident that occurred in the Purba Deobhog area of Sadar upazila on Friday afternoon.

The tragic incident has cast a shadow of grief over the local community and among those who knew the victims.

According to local sources, the students had gone to the area with a group of friends and later entered a pond for swimming. At one stage, they reportedly moved into deeper water and went missing.

Local residents, with assistance from members of the Fire Service, launched a rescue operation and later recovered the bodies from the pond.

The deceased were identified as students of the private university BRAC University in Dhaka. However, their detailed identities were not immediately available.

Police visited the scene after receiving information about the incident.

Law enforcement officials said preliminary findings suggest the students died from drowning, while legal procedures related to the incident are currently underway.
