Rajshahi University students demand reopening of dormitories
Rajshahi - Rajshahi University students on Sunday demanded reopening residential halls of the university by 30 September. The staged a human chain at the central library premises of the university.
Later, they organised a rally and staged a demonstration in front of the administration building. 5 Students among them went to meet the vice-chancellor.
Their demands also included taking of measures to make sure that the rented hostel owners can’t take any money from the candidates seeking admission and opening of a help desk for admission seekers.
Islamic Studies department student Mohabbat Hossain Milon said, Many of students are now staying at Rajshahi town. The University admission test is going to start from the first week of the next month. If the residential halls are not reopened, the admission seekers will face a lot of problems. So, the halls to reopen by 30 September, he said.
After the meeting with the students RU vice-chancellor professor Golam Sabbir Sattar said to the journalists, an academic council meeting will be held on 30 September. The university will take a decision to reopen residential halls and the campus in that meeting, he said. – RU Correspondent
