JU VC mourns death of poet Mohammad Rafiq

Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Nurul Alam Monday expressed his deep shock at the death of Ekushey Padak-winning poet and freedom fighter Mohammad Rafiq.



Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Nurul Alam Monday expressed his deep shock and sorrow at the death of Ekushey Padak-winning poet and freedom fighter Mohammad Rafiq.

In a condolence message, the VC recalled the glorious career of the retired JU professor Mohammad Rafiq.

'The nation has lost a progressive poet and educationist at the death of Mohammad Rafiq. His contributions to the great liberation war and various fields of literature will be remembered,' the VC said

Dr Nurul Alam prayed for the eternal peace of his departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Mohammad Rafiq breathed his last on his way to Dhaka from Barishal around 9 pm on Sunday at the age of 80. He had been suffering from various old age complications.
