The National University (NU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Unique Hotels and Resorts Limited to strengthen collaboration in the field of tourism and hospitality management.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at the Sheraton Hotel in the capital on Monday.
Under the MoU, Unique Hotels and Resorts, which operates the five-star Dhaka Sheraton and Westin Dhaka, will provide training and necessary support to students of the National University to enhance their skills in the tourism and hospitality sector.

Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, NU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah said that without establishing linkages between academia and industry, students will not benefit in their professional lives and the unemployment rate will continue to rise.

He noted that the demand for tourism and hospitality professionals is increasing both locally and internationally, and emphasized that the sector holds a promising future.
“With proper training, our graduates will not only be able to work with dignity in the global job market but also emerge as successful entrepreneurs,” he added.

Unique Hotels and Resorts CEO Sakhawat Hossain attended the event as special guest, reports BSS.

Officials from both institutions were present at the signing ceremony.
