Case against BNP leaders for conspiring against govt: Quader

Dhaka, Oct 02 – The ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has justified the case filed against the top BNP leaders, saying that the police has filed the case against them (BNP leaders) as they are engaged in hatching conspiracy against the government.“We don’t want that BNP leaders should be accused illegally. But they have been sued for the specific allegation. As far as I know, BNP top leaders are engaged in hatching a blueprint for sabotage in the name of movement ahead of the upcoming polls,” Quader said.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister was addressing a function was organized marking the 51st founding anniversary of Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal, at the Institution of Engineers in the
city yesterday.
“If police file a case against anybody for specific allegation then why would it be a harassment case,” he said adding that if BNP leaders think they are innocent they can go to court.
Earlier, on Sunday a case was filed with Hatirjheel Police Station, against BNP’s top leaders, including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul, its standing committee members Mirza Abbas, Moudud Ahmed,
Nazrul Islam Khan, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Moyeen Khan.
Addressing as the chief guest in the function, Quader also said his party wants to forge a unity with the country’s left-leaning political parties including Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) based on the
consensus of secularism.
“Let’s go, we form a maximum unity on minimum point. Where is the problem?” Quader came up with the call to leaders of the country’s left-leaning political parties.
“We too want national unity. We want national unity against communal and anti-liberation forces. We want to forge national unity with the pro-liberation forces,” he said. – Staff Reporter
