Neer finishes 39th position

Dhaka, 2 June - Bangladesh FIDE master Manan Reja Neer failed to achieve the international master norm after losing to India's International Master Muthaiah Ali in the ninth or last round of 24th Dubai Open Chess Tournament that concluded on Sunday in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

FIDE Master Manon Reja Neer scored four and a half points from nine matches to finish 39th position. He needed five and a half points to achieve the international master norm. 

In the day's ninth round matches, FIDE master Manon Reja lost after 34 moves against International Master Muthaiah Ali's Sicilian defense system with a white piece's. Grandmaster Enamul Hossain Razib finished 60th with three points from eight matches.

Grandmaster Muradli Mahammad of Azerbaijan became champion with seven points. 

A total of seventy one players from twenty nine countries including twenty four grand masters, three women grand masters and twenty seven international masters participated in this event.
