A severe heatwave is sweeping across Rangpur district, making life difficult for its residents.
Rangpur weather office sources said that the district recorded maximum day temperatures upwards of 40 degrees Celsius on Friday (June 2). Meanwhile, the highest temperature was recorded 41 degree Celsius in Dinajpur.
Bhupen Nath, a rickshaw puller in Ansary intersection of the district said that the number of passengers has decreased due to the heatwave.
Nadim, a daily worker in station area in Rangpur said, “We are professional day labourer. We don’t become tired usually. But, the heatwave in last couple days make us weak. We will face trouble if this situation continues.”
Rangpur weather office in-charge Mostafizur Rahman said the prevailing hot weather conditions across the country are likely to continue for the next week.
