Witnesses reported that tensions flared among party leaders as they argued over who should sit in the front row and who would take the stage. The chaos escalated quickly, leading to physical confrontations.
Senior BNP leaders, including the coordinator and member secretary of the metropolitan unit, intervened to restore order. Injured individuals were promptly transported to Khulna Medical College Hospital for treatment.
In response to the violence, the BNP city unit expelled four members directly involved in the clash. The expelled members include Ward 11 joint convener Md. Sarwar Hossain, youth leader Nazmul Hossain Babu, Masud Hossain, and Fakir Shahidul Islam. An investigation committee has also been formed to look into the incident.
Habib Biswas, member secretary of Khalishpur BNP, acknowledged the altercation, confirming that it stemmed from disagreements over stage access and resulted in several minor injuries. He stated that he and other leaders visited the injured at the hospital.
Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Khalishpur Police Station, noted he was aware of the scuffle but indicated that no formal complaints had been filed at the station as of yet. The BNP media cell confirmed the expulsions late Friday night, emphasizing the party's commitment to maintaining discipline among its members.
