A Juvenile Court of Dhaka today sentenced
a 15-year-old to 10 years in a case filed over abduction of a sixth-grader in
December, 2019.
Judge Begum Mafroza Parvin of the Juvenile Court-8 of Dhaka handed down the sentence in presence of the teenager accused.
The court also fined the 15-year-old Tk 2 lakh, in default of which he would have to stay six months more in the correctional facility.
Earlier, the prosecution and the defense made their closing arguments and the court recorded statements of five prosecution witnesses, including the complainant of the case.
According to the prosecution, the accused often stalked the female victim on her way to school.
On December 31 of 2019, the accused abducted the victim when her parents were not at home.
On January 4, 2020, the victim’s father filed the case with Shah Ali Police Station.
Police submitted the charge sheet of the case against the accused on April 30 of the same year.
The court framed charges against the accused on January 31 of 2021. - Special Correspondent
