DHAKA - Fast bowling coach Ottis Gibson showed his reluctance to continue with the Tigers, a high up of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said today.

Jalal Younus, the Cricket Operations Chairman, said Gibson who joined Bangladesh on January 21, 2020 with a two-year contract, will not be extending his stay with the national team.

"The contract with Gibson will be ended this month. He had already told us that he doesn't want to continue the job," Younus said today.

In the last two years, Gibson groomed up Bangladesh's fast bowlers, who just showed a magnificent performance in New Zealand to help the side draw the two-match series 1-1.

Ebadot Hossain was instrumental in Bangladesh's first ever Test win against New Zealand when he career-best 6-46 fired Tigers to eight-wicket win the first game.

Gibson's hand was also on the rejuvenation of Taskin Ahmed who off late proved him as a genuine match winner outside the country. The likes of Shoriful Islam, Abu Jayed Rahi, Mustafizur improved their bowling performance under the tutelage of Gibson.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Super League franchise team Multan Sultans posted on Twitter yesterday about the inclusion of Gibson as their assistant and fast bowling coach.BSS
