Dhaka, April - Bangladesh's all-format captain Najmul Hossain Shanto became the highest paid player of the country, eclipsing star allrounder Shakib Al Hasan after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) hiked his captaincy remuneration.

In the latest board meeting, the captain's remuneration was increased to Taka 1 lakh from Taka 40,000. Shanto who is currently playing all formats of cricket, is a category A+ cricketer and draws Taka 7.90 lakh per month.

With an additional 1 lakh as the captain's remuneration, his overall salary stands at Taka 8.90 lakh. As a three-format player, Shakib's salary is Taka 7.90 lakh.

Even though Shanto is the captain of all three formats, his remuneration will be considered for just one format.

However, the cricketers' salary was not increased this year apart from the captain's remuneration but the match fee was increased. The Test match fee is increased to Taka 8 lakh from Taka 6 lakh while per match fee for ODI is Taka 4 lakh from Taka 3 lakh. The T20 match fee is increased to Taka 2.50 lakh from Taka 2 lakh.
