Dhaka, 28 Dec - Nigar Sultana Joty etched her name further in the
folklore of Bangladesh Women's cricket history by smashing her second consecutive century in the country's first class cricket tournament Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) today.
After becoming the first Bangladeshi female cricketer to hit a century in the first class cricket, she now held the record to make century in second straight match.
In the first round, she hammered 153 during her side Central Zone's match
against North Zone. However this time, she went past that score to hammer 171 against East Zone. Like the first match, the second game of Central Zone also ended in a draw despite Joty's century.
Joty's teammate Murshida Khatun, however, resumed the day at 122 and broke the individual highest score, made by Joty, by scoring 170. But that was for only brief period. Joty overhauled her 170 to make 171 to reclaim the record before being dismissed by Taj Nehar.
Thanks to Joty and Murshida, Central Zone reached 528-8 before the match was declared as draw.
Earlier, courtesy of opener Dilara Dola's 102, East Zone were wrapped up for 354 in their only innings.
The day's other match between North Zone and South Zone also ended in a draw after North Zone's Sobhana Mostary hit 118.
Put into bat first, North Zone were bundled out for 238 in its first innings before claiming 18-run lead by bowling out South Zone for 220. Thanks to Mostary's maiden century (118), North Zone declared the second innings at 257-5, setting 275-run victory for South Zone.
North Zone bowlers came up vigorously to push for a victory but South Zone remained unscathed to deny them a victory by reaching 232-8 at stumps on Day 3, the final day of the game.
