Dhaka, 8 Jan - Despite establishing him as one of the most impactful bowlers in T20 format, Rishad Hossain was overlooked in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) initially when his side Fortune Barishal didn't give any match in the Dhaka phase.
He finally got the opportunity to play in BPL Sylhet phase and proved how impactful he is by taking 3-15 against Sylhet Strikers, a performance that led his side Barishal to grab a seven-wicket victory eventually.
"I don't feel any discomfort because I knew that I was not in the best XI due to the team combination," Rishad said after his excellent performance.
"I am ready to what the team wants from me. So there is nothing like
discomfort or anything else."
Last year, Rishad grabbed 35 wickets which was the highest by a Bangladeshi bowler in a calendar year. He also was the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in T20 World Cup.
His epic performance helped him get a contract from Hobert Hurricanes to play the Australian domestic tournament Big Bash, which is considered as one of the finest T20 tournaments around.
Rishad, in fact, was the only second Bangladesh player after Shakib Al Hasan to get a chance to play in Big Bash. However, he couldn't feature in the tournament as the Big Bash coincides with BPL and he personally gave Barishal a priority.
Rishad said he has no regret to choose BPL ahead of the Big Bash.
"I don't regret with anything else. It's not in my luck. Hope for a better
luck next time. At this moment, BPL is the top most priority and I want to play well here," he remarked.-BSS
