Dhaka, 18 Feb —The Women’s Dhaka Premier League (WDPL) is all set to begin from Wednesday with the tournament serving the national players a best preparation
platform for their ODI World Cup Qualifiers.
The trophy was unveiled today at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium to give the league a
momentum.
“This tournament is very important for us because of the World Cup qualifiers which is just
approaching,” national team skipper Nigar Sultana Joty said here today.
“Recently we had a four-day camp where everyone was told to take the league seriously as part of preparation for the Qualifiers,” she added.
The World Cup Qualifier is scheduled to take place in Pakistan from April 4 to 19, 2025. It will
determine the final teams for the Women's Cricket World Cup, which is set to be held in India later this year.
Bangladesh had the chance to make a direct entry to the tournament but their 2-1 defeat to West Indies in their last bilateral series ruined the prospect.
