At least 12 injured as masked men open fire in Ctg

At least 12 people sustained bullet injuries as a group of masked men fired at them in Raozan upazila of Chattogram on Thursday night.


Eleven of the victims were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Locals said 20-25 masked assailants beat up and hacked Md Mohiuddin, a BNP activist, in the Asod Ali Matabbarpara Masjid area at Niramishpara village around 9pm.

As local residents tried to resist the assailants, they opened fire on them leaving at least 12 bullet injured, reports DS.

Raozan police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mir Mahabubur Rahman said activists of a faction of the BNP attempted to attack Kamal Uddin, son of Noapara Union Parishad’s former chairman Khayez Ahmad.

Since local people barred them, the assailants fired indiscriminately and 12-15 sustained bullet wounds, he said.

Md Jashim Uddin, 50, Md Mohiuddin, 38, Jan-e Alam, 44, and his brother Md Saifuddin, 31, Md Lavlu, 28, Nuruddin, 28, and his brother Md Manik, 36, Md Masud, 35, Alauddin, 40, Md Humayun, 45, and Nurul Absar, 55, were undergoing treatment at CMCH.
