An eight-month-old infant was abducted during a robbery

An eight-month-old infant was abducted during a robbery at a house in the Medical Staff Quarters of Azimpur, Dhaka, on Friday morning. The crime occurred around 9 am, when two men, posing as relatives of the tenant, broke into the home of Farzana Akhter. They held her hostage, looted cash and valuables, including Tk 1.5 lakh and four tolas of gold jewelry, and fled with her child.

Kashoinur, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lalbagh Police Station, confirmed the incident but noted that the child's parents have not yet filed a formal complaint. "We have obtained some CCTV footage, but it’s unclear. Efforts to rescue the child are ongoing," he said.

Farzana, an employee of the Ministry of Home Affairs, had recently rented the flat to a woman who had arrived the previous day. The robbers, claiming to be the woman's brothers, targeted the home and took the child before fleeing.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and police continue their investigation to locate the child and apprehend the suspects.
