July-August mass killing: 3 cops including former ADC Mainul sent to jail

Dhaka, 28 Jan  – The International Crime Tribunal (ICT) on Tuesday sent three police officers including former assistant deputy commissioner of Mirpur Division, MM Mainul Islam to jail in connection with the July-August mass killing case.

The three member bench of the tribunal passed the order after they were shown arrested in the case.

The other two cops are—former officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station Arshad Hossain and former sub-inspector Chanchal Chandra Sarkar.

Besides, the court also fixed February 23 for hearing about the former OC Arshad while the two others for May 24.

Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam stood for the state.

Earlier, former SI Chanchal Chandra was produced before the court on Tuesday morning in connection with a case filed over open fire on a young man, hanging on the under-construction building in Dhaka’s Rampur area.

The ICT issued warrants for the arrest of six former police officers for their alleged involvement in human rights violations.
