A violent clash over land ownership between Awami League and BNP factions in Durgapur upazila, Rajshahi, on Saturday resulted in two deaths and 20 injuries. Among the deceased was 45-year-old Ferdousi, while the identity of the second victim remains unknown.

According to Durul Hoda, officer-in-charge of Durgapur Police Station, the conflict stemmed from a long-standing dispute between Mamun, a BNP activist from Tiarkuri village, and Riajul, an Awami League leader. Mamun, along with his supporters, attempted to seize a piece of land from Riajul around 10 a.m., escalating tensions.

The situation quickly turned violent as both groups, armed with sharp weapons, clashed, leaving 22 people wounded. Three were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared two dead. Seven individuals have been detained for questioning, and police are continuing efforts to apprehend others involved in the incident.
