Police recovered six firearms from a pond near the police wireless center and the old DC’s bungalow in the Kandivita area of Natore city on Friday.

The weapons included four shotguns, a double-barrelled gun, and an airgun, according to police.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mahmudah Sharmin Neli of Natore Sadar Circle reported that two boys fishing in the pond in the morning had their fishing rod snagged underwater. When they attempted to free it, they discovered a bundle wrapped in a blanket. Upon opening it, they found an airgun and a double-barrelled gun.

The boys immediately alerted locals, who informed the police. A team of divers from the Natore Fire Service was then deployed to search the pond, recovering four additional shotguns.

ASP Neli stated that a full-scale search operation would begin on Saturday, involving draining the pond to ensure all weapons are recovered.
