Cyclone Mocha: Airport closed, Drizzle in Cox’s Bazar

Powerful cyclonic storm Mocha formed over the Bay of Bengal is set to hit Bangladesh coast.  There are fears that more heavy rain can trigger landslides in many places.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued a bulletin in this regard on Saturday (May 13) morning as Cyclone Mocha is approaching the southeastern coast of Bangladesh.
Maritime ports of Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram and Payra have been advised to lower local warning Signal Number 4 and instead hoist Great Danger Signal 8.
The coastal districts of Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Feni, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Barishal, Bhola, Patuakhali, Jhalakathi, Pirojpur, Barguna and their offshore islands and chars will come under Great Danger Signal Number 8.
Authorities of Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram have suspended all flights until further notice due to the very severe cyclonic storm Mocha in the Bay of Bengal.
The airport authorities announced the suspension of flights at 11pm on Friday (May 12) and said it will remain in force until further notice.
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh confirmed the information in a press release issued yesterday night.

Drizzle begins in Cox’s Bazar, airport closed
Cox’s Bazar district has been draped in an unceasing drizzle, under a dark and cloudy sky, from Saturday morning due to cyclonic storm Mocha.
Authorities of Cox’s Bazar Airport have suspended all flights until further notice due to the very severe cyclonic storm Mocha in the Bay of Bengal.
Manager of Cox’s Bazar Airport Golam Mortaza Hossain confirmed the news on Saturday morning.
