Pakistani High Commissioner in Dhaka, Syed Ahmed Maroof, met with Adviser for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, Nahid Islam, at his office today.

During their meeting, they discussed a range of topics, including collaboration in media, sports, youth development, culture, and information technology, according to a press release.

The Pakistani envoy expressed his condolences for the victims of the recent student-led mass uprising and prayed for the eternal peace of their souls. He also voiced his support for the interim government of Bangladesh, affirming Pakistan’s desire to strengthen relations between the two nations.

Highlighting the potential for joint efforts in information technology, the High Commissioner expressed hope that Bangladesh and Pakistan could collaborate in this sector.

Additionally, the High Commissioner extended an invitation to Adviser Nahid to visit the Urdu Department at Dhaka University in the second week of September. He also invited Nahid to attend a 'Qawwali' music event organized by the Pakistan High Commission.

Nahid, who also serves as the Adviser for Information and Broadcasting, emphasized Bangladesh’s interest in improving bilateral relations by addressing unresolved issues related to the 1971 Liberation War.

In response, the Pakistani envoy stated, "We are keen to resolve the 1971 issue. However, previous governments did not provide opportunities for dialogue and kept the matter unresolved. This issue could have been settled long ago," he added.
