Jeddah, 3 October, 2024 - The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, strongly condemned and denounced Israel's declaration of Mr. Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, as a "persona non grata." This action was considered a clear violation of Israel's obligations as the occupying power, according to the UN Charter and relevant resolutions.

The OIC Secretary-General emphasized that this stance is a result of ongoing defamatory actions taken by the representatives of this occupying power against the United Nations, its Secretary-General, and other international institutions and personalities. This includes efforts to label UNRWA as a terrorist organization, as well as impeding the access of representatives from the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Independent Commission of Inquiry, and the Special Rapporteurs to the State of Palestine.

Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha praised the UN Security Council members for their endorsement and backing of the UN Secretary-General. He also urged the international community to fulfill its obligations and compel the Israeli occupation to adhere to the applicable UN resolutions and mandates. – OIC News
