Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Alexander Khozin, emphasized his country's "unwavering support, cooperation, and partnership" with Bangladesh, reaffirming Russia's commitment to deepening bilateral ties across various sectors.

Ambassador Khozin discussed key areas of mutual interest and cooperation during separate meetings with Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin and Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters after the meetings, the Ambassador shared his admiration for Bangladesh, expressing how impressed he is by the country after having served in other South Asian nations, including India, Nepal, and Pakistan, in various diplomatic roles.

A significant part of the discussions revolved around the Russia-funded Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, a major infrastructure project that Khozin recently visited. He described it as a "significant and transformative initiative" that will strengthen ties between the two nations.

The Ambassador also highlighted other areas of collaboration, including food security, agriculture, shipbuilding, and the potential for Bangladeshis to seek employment opportunities in Russia.

On December 30, 2024, Ambassador Khozin presented his credentials to President Mohammed Shahabuddin. During their conversation, he conveyed his optimism for continued and enhanced bilateral relations. In the President’s guestbook, Khozin wrote, “It is my sincere hope that during my tenure, the bonds of friendship between Dhaka and Moscow will continue to thrive and strengthen through mutually beneficial cooperation between our nations.”
